What a beautiful beast the Mississippi River can be...

Here are some pictures of the Old River Water Control Structure north of Pointe Coupee. It is where the Mississippi, Atchafalaya and the Red River meet. This structure keeps the Mississippi from changing its course and running through the Atchafalaya. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to ride around the parish taking pictures of the high water for a cover story I'm working on. I will post some more pics later but I thought this was amazing.
