The majority of my friends have itty bitties...they are all beautiful and I love being around them and playing with them. I love to see them in person or to watch them grow by photographs over the internet.
I do not have children of my own, but I do have a godchild. Devin has always been a huge part of my life, but in the past 8 years he's managed to be an even bigger part of my life. I'm so grateful that I was able to be there for him.
To all my young mama friends: Brace yourselves!!! Enjoy every moment of it. You'll never go back. One day you are going to wake up to a teenager tapping your shoulder saying, "Are you OK? Do you need me to drive? I have my permit you know." Yes it will happen...yes you will take with the shakes...yes you will say to yourself--What just happened here?
(This happened to me on the way to Texas to go visit Mike two weeks ago.)
My baby who adored me and worshiped the ground I walked on is now his own free thinking, embrassed by me, learners permit toting, high school freshman, playing high school football. He has a personality that is unbelievable...not sure where he got that from...it's like listening to a recording of myself! lol
All I know is I got four more years to call him a kid, and I'm not going to miss a damn thing! I have always been that crazy "aunt" on the sidelines or in the audience or lurking in the background...why should I change now, right?
So mama's just remember this post when you say these words, "What just happened here?" in the years to come. It's a bumpy ride, but it's been worth every minute!
Oh and if you don't know by now...I'm very proud of my Devin...he's the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.
